“PAPA PROSI”, TWO POLICE WOMEN ARE FIGHTING.

One big question lingering in my mind that I want the Ghana Police Service[GPS] to answer is whether the security service is a speaking service or a service mandated to serve and protect the constitution of the country, governments and its officials, traditional authorities, ordinary men and women, children and properties?

This is because in recent times, I have found the blue uniform security men to be what I described as speaking service instead of being action oriented by serving people and protecting properties of the state and individuals.

Chief Superintendent Tehoda who was freed on cocaine charges and COP Rose Bio Atinga engaging the media on statements and counter statements on whether to recall the freed suspect back to her position as a peace officer was not necessary.

The matter went to a court of competent jurisdiction which heard the case. Through the wisdom of the court, the suspect was freed which under no circumstances should another peace office challenge by saying the service won't recall the suspect back to her position.

Following recent riots in various parts of the country which threatens the peace and development of the nation particularly with the upcoming general elections, the citizenry are not interested in showdown of commanding powers or who is powerful in ranks.

Or people are not interested in watching a Hollywood style of commanding officer enjoying a dispatch riding with loud noise sirens on disturbing a resident community when going to office in the morning and retiring from a day's work.

Ghanaians are interested in seeing a strong and competent police force that assures them of total service and provision of total security to properties now and even during times of tensions and riots.

Certain officers and men of the Ghana Police Service like showing off too much of their high ranks or commanding power by talking too much on the radio instead of conducting research into why rape of young girls by older men is on ascendancy and how to curb it.

Instead of conducting serious investigations into why the youth of today are expressing much interest in all sorts of crimes to make quick money rather than seeking professional knowledge and skills to make better living in future, officers and men are jabbing each other on radio.

Six months from now the country will be going to the polls to elect parliamentarians and a new president. Currently there is some sort of fear among a section of the people that there would be violence.

What is the police service doing to assure the general public that there would be no violence and that peace and order would be maintain before, during and after the elections?

Let us ask ourselves whether the issuing of the statement and counter statement in the media educated the general masses on their rights and responsibilities as law abiding citizens as these two fighting police women are to enforce the law.

By telling the whole world that the police service has to reinstate her to her position educated the young girls how to avoid serving as pray to rapists, victims of armed robbery how to protect themselves and properties?

Will calling the bluff of the freed suspect repair the damage caused to the chief palace of Togbiga Gabusu in Hohoe area in the Volta Region which the police is being accused of not responding positively on investigation findings before the riots?

It is time Ghana Police Service change their modus operandi from talking at length on radio stations to explain issues and events to establishing sources which will give them information leading to investigations that will expose fraudulent acts and other activities which are criminal.
